1. Introduction

These are the terms and conditions that apply when you reserve a room at The Leslie. You will be asked to confirm your acceptance of these terms and conditions when you make a reservation. We reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time and you should therefore check them each time you make a reservation. The terms and conditions applying to your reservation will be those in place on the date that you make your reservation.

2. Reservations

Reservations may be placed online or by direct call/email. You must be at least 16 years old to make a reservation. Please check that the details of your reservation are complete and accurate before you confirm your reservation.

We will not be liable for any delay or non-performance if you provide us with incorrect information. We will confirm our acceptance of your reservation by sending you an email to the email address that you provide during the reservation process. The contract between us for the provision of your room and any additional services added to your reservation will be formed when you receive this email confirmation from us.

3. Right of admission

The Leslie reserves the right, at its discretion, to terminate, without notice, an individuals’ stay where deemed necessary through unacceptable behaviour or as a result of actions likely to offend or endanger other guests or staff. Guests are liable for any damage or loss caused by them during their stay at our properties and will be required to pay the amount reasonably required to make good or remedy the damage or loss.

4. Room prices

The Lodge operates dynamic pricing, and the price of our rooms fluctuates based on demand and length of stay.  When you make a reservation request, we’ll give you a total price for the rooms and number of nights you’ve requested. The price you pay is the price quoted to you at the time you make your reservation.

Room prices are per room, per night and are inclusive of VAT at the applicable rate at the time of your reservation.  If the rate of VAT changes between the date of your reservation and the date of your stay, we will adjust the rate of VAT that you pay, unless you have already paid for the reservation in full before the change in the rate of VAT takes effect.

5. Occupancy

The maximum room occupancy is two adults, in occasion an extra bed may be added.  The family room (where available) can accommodate two adults and two children (under the age of 7). You must not exceed the maximum occupancy for the room allocated to you. Children under 16 are not permitted to stay at the Lodge unless a parent or guardian is also staying in the hotel.

Although we will always try to accommodate special requests, all rooms are subject to availability. 

6. Meals

Breakfast is complimentary. All other meals, drinks extras must be paid for separately if not included in the package price. We offer a la carte lunch and limited evening menu between the hours of 5pm and 9pm, please ask at the front desk for more information.

7. Paying for your room

If you are a directly paying guest;

You can pay for your room upon check in. Payment may be made by cash, credit/debit card (Nb. we do not accept American Express or Diners Club). The expiry date of your debit/credit card must be later than the end of your stay. Any extras such as meals will be paid for upon departure.

If you are a non-directly paying guest eg; a company;

We require an purchase order of no more than 14 days or proof of payment before we can check you in. if you have cumulative LPOs that have not yet been paid, we reserve the right to turn you away, and/or cancel the booking.

8. Cancellations

Your right to cancel your booking 24h before check in should you wish to do so. However, a cancelation fee may be applied if you cancel within the 24h window before check in.

Our right to cancel:

We may cancel your reservation at any time with immediate effect by giving you written notice (which includes email) if:

  1. You do not pay us when you are required to do so; or
  2. You break the contract between us in any other material way.

If we cancel your reservation where you are at fault, we reserve our legal rights in respect of your breach of contract.

Events outside our control:

We may cancel your reservation if an event outside of our control (including industrial action, explosion, fire, flooding, and failure of power and/or water supplies or emergency evacuation) means that we are unable to make your room available to you. In this case we will contact you to let you know as soon as possible and:

If you have already paid for your room, we will refund your payment to you; or if you have not yet paid for your room, you will not have to make any payment to us. Save as set out above, we will not be liable or responsible for any failure to perform, or delay in performance of, any of our obligations that is caused by an event outside of our control.

9. Arrival and departure

Rooms are available from 2pm on the arrival date. However, guests may inquire about early check in subject to availability.

Guests will be asked to provide proof of identity, nationality upon check-in and complete a registration form. Acceptable forms of identification include; a passport, driving licence, ID card or police warrant card.

Rooms must be vacated by 11am on the day of departure. Failure to leave your room by this time may result in a late check-out charge equivalent of $50.

10. Our expectations of you

You must not:

  • Permitted smoking areas will be identified on site.
  • bring any pets onto the premises, except for assistance dogs.
  • bring any potentially dangerous or hazardous materials or equipment onto the premises.
  • tamper with any fire alarms or emergency equipment.
  • remove, damage or destroy any property belonging to the lodge.
  • use any of the technology provided by the Lodge to download or access any unlawful or obscene material; or
  • cause unreasonable disturbance to our other guests, any of our staff.
  • Involvement with illegal activities

If you or your group cause damage or loss of any kind to the hotel, other guests or their property, you (as the person making the booking) will be responsible for that damage or loss and you shall be liable to pay to The Leslie on demand the amount required to remedy such damage or loss.

You and the members of your group must not resell nor advertise, market, or otherwise offer any room for sale either on its own or as part of a combined offer. The lodge will not honour any reservations made in this way and does not accept any liability for doing so. 11. Privacy

At The Leslie, the privacy and protection of personal data is treated with the utmost seriousness. Our privacy statement sets out the data protection practices within the company. We specifically state that we will: Obtain and process information fairly. Keep it only for one or more specified, explicit, and lawful purpose. Use and disclose it only in ways compatible with these purposes. Keep it safe and secure. Keep it accurate, complete, and up to date. Ensure that it is adequate, relevant, and not excessive. Retain it for no longer than is necessary for the purpose or purposes intended. Give a copy of his/her personal data to that individual, on written request. If at any time you believe that this is not adhered to, please notify The Leslie by e-mail at a info@thelesliemw.com and we will use all commercially reasonable efforts to promptly determine and correct the problem.

These terms and conditions shall be governed by the law and courts in Malawi and the respective law shall have jurisdiction over any matter arising out of or in connection with them.
